2025 “Rainforest and You” Experience Event Grandly Launched in Changjiang, S China’s Hainan Province

On November 29, 2025, the "Rainforest and You" experience event was grandly inaugurated in Wangxia Township, Changjiang Li Autonomous County (in the Bawangling area of the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest). This event, hosted by the Hainan Provincial Forestry Bureau and the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest Administration, organized by the Changjiang Li Autonomous County People's Government and the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest Research and Monitoring Center, and executed by the Hainan Performing Arts Group, carries the theme "Dreamy Rainforest - Pure Li Homeland." Through live performances, multi-platform interactive broadcasts, and diverse experiences, it vividly showcases China's achievements in ecological protection and the fusion of ethnic cultures, becoming an important platform for promoting green development and reinforcing the sense of community among the Chinese nation.

The opening ceremony featured a live performance titled "Dreamy Rainforest - Pure Li Homeland" as its core highlight. The show commenced with the prologue "Morning Painting - Fireworks Scroll," and through segments like "Morning Rhythm of Li Homeland," "Butterfly Dance," and "Galloping Deer," it artistically presented the biodiversity of the tropical rainforest and the daily life scenes of the Li ethnic group. The dance "Echoes of the Gibbons," inspired by Hainan’s gibbons, highlighted the conservation success of this "flagship species of the rainforest," which has recovered from being endangered to 7 groups of 42 individuals, reflecting the global significance of the "Bawangling Model" in endangered species protection.

The cultural heritage of the Li ethnic group also shone brightly. The ensemble "Bamboo and Wood Present Auspiciousness," awarded the 18th Wenhua "Program Award," harmoniously expressed sounds using traditional tools like rice pounding buckets and cowbells. The costume show "Splendid Li Homeland" intertwined traditional and modern fashion, connecting ethnic memories with contemporary innovation. The event also included interactive segments like Li Brocade weaving, allowing attendees to deepen emotional resonance while practicing the unity concept of "all ethnic groups are tightly embraced like pomegranate seeds."

The event brought together guests from both domestic and international backgrounds, including representatives from the first five established national parks and experts from international organizations, to share ecological protection experiences through cross-border dialogue. Data shows that since its establishment, the National Park of Hainan Tropical Rainforest has discovered 75 new species, and the GEP (Gross Ecosystem Production) continues to grow, validating the development path of "green waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets."

The entire performance adhered to the principle of "minimal intervention," utilizing environmentally friendly materials and reversible stage designs, reflecting a respect for the natural environment. A representative from the Hainan Performing Arts Group stated that future efforts will deepen the integration of performance art and tourism, promoting innovation in rainforest cultural products.

The event innovatively adopted a "multi-platform linkage, synchronous broadcasting at home and abroad" model, collaborating with the media matrix of the first five national parks and the Hainan International Communication Center to achieve dual dissemination both domestically and internationally. The involvement of social media influencers and travel bloggers further expanded the event’s influence, with online live broadcasts attracting global audiences to immerse themselves in the vitality of the rainforest and the charm of Li culture.

"The air here is as fresh as if it has been washed by the rainforest, and every breath is a gift of negative oxygen ions!" exclaimed Mr. Liu, a travel blogger. "I've traveled all over the country, but this is the first performance I’ve seen that perfectly integrates natural ecology with cultural arts.” Mr. Dong, an actor from "Echoes of the Gibbons," expressed during a break in the performance, "The cry of the Hainan gibbon is very unique, and this performance truly allowed me to feel the vitality of the rainforest." For him, this performance transcended a mere stage show and became a profound dialogue between life and nature.

The "Rainforest and You" experience event is not only a feast of ecology and culture but also an important window for Hainan to deepen its national park construction, promote ethnic unity, and showcase the vitality of the free trade port. Using the rainforest as a bond, China continues to convey the wisdom of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature to the world, allowing the flower of community to flourish steadily on the fertile ground of green development.
