-- PROSTAID Calgary has announced its monthly support meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 7:30 PM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT). The event will take place at the CKE Community Centre, 1015 73 Ave SW, Calgary, featuring Mark Mahl from the Prostate Cancer Foundation and his presentation on Alberta’s Provincial Pathways initiative.

Additional details about the meeting are available at https://prostaid.org/meetings/

Provincial Pathways are standardized care roadmaps developed by Alberta Health Services to ensure patients across the province receive consistent, timely, and coordinated cancer care. PROSTAID Calgary notes that these pathways guide family physicians, urologists, and oncology teams through diagnosis, referral, and treatment planning, while also integrating survivorship and caregiver support. The April session will outline how these pathways are evolving to reduce delays, improve outcomes, and improve communication between patients and healthcare providers.

The meeting comes at a time when prostate cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer among Canadian men. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, approximately 24,600 men in Canada were projected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2025, representing nearly one in five new male cancer cases. While survival rates have improved significantly, with five‑year net survival now at 91%, timely diagnosis and coordinated care remain critical to maintaining these outcomes. Provincial Pathways aim to address gaps in access and ensure that men in both urban and rural areas benefit from the same standards of care.

Attendance at PROSTAID Calgary’s monthly meetings is free of charge and open to all individuals affected by prostate cancer, including survivors, caregivers, and family members. In addition to the general meeting, the organization hosts specialized sessions for the Warriors group, focused on advanced disease, and the Wives and Caregivers group, offering support for partners and families.

Participants can attend in person or RSVP online to receive a Zoom link for virtual participation. Each meeting allows attendees to hear from healthcare professionals, ask questions, and connect with others navigating the prostate cancer journey.
